The Transfer Romantics and Addicts

The Transfer Romantics and Addicts

Show #1! Addition.

Welcome to the first Cush:Things I Say podcast. It’s all about addition. Not the 5 years + unlimited spending = $Trillion deficit kind. I’m talking about the things we add to our already complicated lives.

What’s a podcast, you ask? Well, think of it as an on demand radio program you can listen to here, download and listen to it on your computer, mp3 player, or smartphone, or you can subscribe to our feed and, using what’s called a podcatcher software client, receive new programs automatically! You can get more information here.

I’m going to try to do a new show each week, depending on how busy and/or inspired I am. As this is the first show, I reserve the reight to play with the format and content as we go along.

Fisher

Our first show features music and an interview with Iris Records artists, Fisher. I’d say if you haven’t heard Fisher before you’re in for a treat, but chances are you’ve heard lead singer Kathy Fisher’s voice on commercials for Toyota, Verizon, Glade, Hyundai, and many, many others.

Fisher is the unoffical success story of the internet. In pre-iTunes days, their songs were downloaded a whopping 3 million times! They’ve released indie records, been on a major label, walked away from the major label, and have just released their fourth CD, “The Lovely Years.” I talk to them about their writing and the addition of a son and how it affects them as artists and as humans.

  • 00:00 – Intro
  • 01:30 – A brief history
  • 03:25 – I discover podcasting
  • 04:20 – A.D.D.
  • 05:44 – You+Food+Poop
  • 06:47 – Fisher back story; Beautiful Life
  • 09:22 – Fisher interview; The Lovely Years; the new record label
  • 12:52 – Surrender; U2 influence; new production style
  • 14:28 – Additions
  • 16:10 – So Much
  • 16:50 – Sleepy Head; retaining an edge; Sylvia Plath
  • 19:49 – Having a son; pregnancy and being a singer
  • 26:25 – The new relationship with fans
  • 27:58 – Husband & wife issues; Turn Around

See you next week!
